With over 18 years of experience in the hair industry, Craig has built a reputation for exceptional cutting, bespoke colour and genuine client care.
Before opening Carnaby 39, Craig worked in some of Aberdeen's leading salons, where he honed his skills, built lasting relationships with clients and developed the vision for the salon he would one day create.
In 2014, Craig graduated as a L'Oréal Colour Specialist with Distinction, gaining advanced technical expertise in colour and a deep understanding of creating personalised results while maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.
Education has always been at the heart of Craig's career. As a certified educator and assessor, he has shared his knowledge, helping aspiring hairdressers build the confidence and skills needed to succeed. Although the industry continues to evolve, Craig firmly believes that investing in and developing young talent is one of the most important responsibilities of any salon owner.
In 2019, Craig opened Carnaby 39, bringing his vision of a luxury city-style salon to the heart of Stonehaven. Inspired by retro interiors, he wanted to create more than just a salon—he wanted to create an experience. Every detail was carefully considered to evoke a sense of nostalgia, encouraging clients to step back in time while enjoying modern, high-end hairdressing in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
The name Carnaby 39 was inspired by London's iconic Carnaby Street, the epicentre of fashion, music and self-expression during the 1960s. Craig has always been fascinated by British subcultures and the individuality they represent, and that influence can still be seen throughout the salon today.
From its beginnings in a small salon on Allardice Street, Carnaby 39 has grown into the space it is today. Craig has been fortunate to build a team of talented, like-minded stylists who have trusted his vision every step of the way—no matter how ambitious it seemed. Together they have completed three major salon renovations, each one carefully designed to improve the client experience while preserving the warm, friendly atmosphere that has always been at the heart of Carnaby 39.
Craig is incredibly grateful for the loyalty of the clients who have supported him throughout his career. Many have followed him from the high-end salons of Aberdeen to Carnaby 39 in Stonehaven, placing their trust in him every step of the way. Those long-standing relationships are something he values enormously.
While Craig now spends more time mentoring his team and developing the business, he still enjoys working behind the chair and creating beautiful hair. Whether it's a precision cut, seamless blonde transformation or bespoke colour service, he continues to deliver the same attention to detail and passion that have defined his career from the beginning.
For Craig, Carnaby 39 is more than just a hair salon. It's the result of years of hard work, creativity and a desire to offer Stonehaven a salon with personality, exceptional standards and a team that genuinely cares about every client who walks through the door.
